Zauberball Crazy
"Zauberball" is German for magic ball. Once you see what this yarn does on the needles, that tracks.
Zauberball Crazy is Schoppel's maximalist take on their signature self-striping yarn. Where the original Zauberball uses a single dyed strand, Crazy takes it further: two strands are dyed individually in completely different color sequences, then twisted together. The result is a bold, unpredictable variegated stripe pattern that shifts and surprises across the whole skein — no two sections look the same, and no two skeins look exactly alike either.
The base is 75% superwash Merino wool and 25% biodegradable nylon — not regular nylon, biodegradable nylon, which is a meaningful distinction if you care about what happens to your yarn at the end of its life. The Merino brings softness, elasticity, and stitch definition; the nylon adds the durability you want in socks and anything that gets real wear.
Best for socks (the obvious choice), shawls, and any project where you want the yarn to do the design work. Simple stitch patterns show off the color movement best; complex stitch patterns compete with it.
