Riti Light
There’s a particular kind of wool that earns your trust slowly — not flashy, not trying to impress you in the skein, but the kind you reach for again and again once you understand what it does.
Riti Light is spun from 100% Patagonian Highland wool, grown in one of the most remote wool-producing regions in the world and spun in Peru by Amano Yarns. “Riti” means ice in Quechua, and the name is a tribute to the Patagonian landscape that inspired the yarn—the glacial blues and sun-bleached tones of high-altitude terrain, alongside rich mélange heathers that give the palette surprising range.
The yarn is plied with a medium twist that gives it plenty of loft and spring for a sport-weight wool. It’s non-superwash, with the structure and memory to hold its shape beautifully in finished garments, wears well over time, and responds to blocking the way good wool should—blooming, softening, and settling into the fabric it was always supposed to be. Stitch definition is clean and crisp, making Riti Light especially good for texture, lace, and garments where the structure of the knitting matters.
It’s not a yarn that needs to shout from the skein. Give it a good pattern and a good blocking, and you’ll understand why you keep reaching for it.
