Malvinas

If you've ever knitted with Noro Ito and wished you had a solid to go with it, this is that yarn.

Malvinas is Noro's semi-solid answer to their signature multicolors—100% Merino wool from the Falkland Islands, designed to work at a compatible gauge with favorites including Kureyon, Ito, and Silk Garden. Even better, many of the Malvinas shades were pulled directly from colors found in Noro's multicolor yarns, so finding a solid that belongs beside your favorite gradient is considerably easier than staring at two skeins under the shop lights and hoping for the best.

That makes Malvinas particularly useful for colorwork. Pair it with a Noro multicolor for stripes, mosaic, Fair Isle, or anywhere you want a steady color to give all those shifting Noro shades something to play against. Use several Malvinas colors together and you get the same rich Noro palette with much more control over where each color goes. As always, swatch when you're combining different yarn lines—even yarns designed to work together can behave a little differently once they're on your needles.

On its own, Malvinas is a good workhorse wool with the spring, structure, and stitch definition you want for sweaters, cables, and texture. The semi-solid colors have enough variation to give the finished fabric some depth without distracting from the stitches, and the palette runs from useful neutrals to saturated jewel tones that can hold their own next to Noro's more dramatic color changes.

Malvinas is non-superwash wool, which means it will felt beautifully when you want it to—and when you don't, a little care keeps the stitches intact. Hand wash gently in cool water without agitation and lay flat to dry.

Noro has always been very good at deciding where the color should go. Malvinas is what you reach for when you want a say in the matter.
