Firefly

Firefly is built from the inside out: a multicolor nylon and metallic core wrapped in brushed extrafine Merino and cotton. The core carries subtle flecks of color and shimmer, while the brushed fibers soften the effect with a gentle halo. Instead of obvious sparkle, the metallic catches the light as the fabric moves.

Despite all that fuzz, Firefly is surprisingly light. The blend of Merino and cotton creates warmth and softness without the density you might expect at a worsted gauge, and at 415 yards per 100 grams, there's a lot of yarn without a lot of weight.

That makes Firefly particularly interesting for sweaters, cardigans, and wraps, where there's enough fabric for the halo, shifting color, and shimmer to develop. Simple stitches give those qualities plenty of room to show. Like other brushed yarns, Firefly's halo softens the edges of individual stitches, so fine texture and intricate cables won't read as crisply as they would in a smooth yarn.
