Catona is made from 100% mercerized cotton. Mercerization is a treatment that smooths and strengthens cotton fibers, improves dye absorption, and gives the yarn a gentle sheen. The result is a smooth, richly colored yarn with crisp stitch definition—especially useful for amigurumi, where small details and neat, consistent stitches make a difference.

Cotton has very little elasticity, so tightly crocheted fabric holds its shape well. That structure is useful for stuffed animals, dolls, and other projects where you want the finished piece to keep its form.
