Sonata

Noro Sonata is the other side of the brand’s signature gradients—rich, saturated semi-solids in a wool-free blend with beautiful drape and a soft hand.

Sonata combines cotton, viscose, silk, and polyamide in a smooth single-ply yarn. The blend gives the fabric breathability, fluidity, and a subtle sheen, while the single-ply construction keeps the yarn supple and contributes to its relaxed drape.

Single-ply yarns can sometimes create a slight bias in knitted fabric as the twist relaxes. Sonata responds well to a thorough wet blocking, so be sure to wash and block your swatch before deciding on gauge or judging the finished fabric.

With more than 30 semi-solid colorways, Sonata gives you the depth and complexity you expect from Noro without the long color changes. The shades have enough variation to keep simple stockinette interesting, but they're quiet enough for lace and texture to stay visible.

Sonata's drape makes it particularly good for tees, lightweight sweaters and cardigans, shawls, and wraps. It's comfortable against bare skin and breathable enough for warmer days, but there's no reason to put it away when summer ends. Layer it, use it for transitional pieces, or reach for it any time you want a wool-free yarn with more fluidity than a typical cotton.
