Ultra Alpaca Natural

The colors in Ultra Alpaca Natural aren’t chosen from a dye chart. They’re created by blending natural alpaca and undyed wool in different ratios—which means every shade has depth and variation built right into the fiber.

The palette runs from creamy whites and warm taupes to cool grays and rich chocolate browns, all with a subtle heathered quality that comes from the fiber itself rather than anything added to it. Some colorways take it further with marls—two natural tones twisted together into a single strand, creating even more movement and dimension in the finished fabric. It’s understated in the skein and quietly beautiful in the finished piece.

The base is the same as Ultra Alpaca: 50% superfine alpaca and 50% Peruvian Highland wool, spun in Peru into a round, lofty three-ply. That combination of soft halo and crisp structure is particularly good here—the slight fuzziness of the alpaca adds even more depth to the natural heathers and marls without obscuring your stitches.

The naturals also pair beautifully with the dyed Ultra Alpaca colorways, giving you an enormous range to work with for stripes and colorwork. Pair a natural with a dyed shade for an easy starting point—just make sure there’s enough light/dark contrast between them if you want your stranded pattern to stand out.

Ultra Alpaca Natural is non-superwash, so treat it like the good wool it is: cold water, gentle handling, and dry flat.
