Cirrus is a 100% cotton light weight yarn from Juniper Moon Farm — vegan, machine washable, and noticeably lighter in the hand than most cotton yarns you've worked with. The reason it behaves differently from typical cotton is construction: Cirrus is chainette, not plied. That hollow, tube-like structure is what gives it the soft halo, the fluid drape, and the lightness that plied cotton just doesn't have. It's also why it resists splitting and feels more forgiving to knit — the structure holds together without needing the tight twist that makes so many cottons feel stiff or dense.

All of that makes it genuinely well-suited for lacework, layering pieces, lightweight sweaters, wraps, and anything you want to move well on the body. The gauge range is wider than usual for a light weight — 21 to 24 sts per 4 inches knit, 12 to 17 single crochet — so it works with needles or a hook depending on how you want the finished fabric to behave.
