It Starts at the Toes! Toe-Up Socks

Learn to make socks in this 3 session class! You will learn Judy’s magic cast on, a short row heel, and a sewn bind off. Along the way, you’ll learn tips and tricks to ease your journey into sock making.

Time: 3 two-hour classes

Level 3: Look, I made some stuff! I can knit and purl, knit in the round, increase and decrease, and I’m ready to try something new.

Skills you need: Cast on, knit in the round, bind off

Skills you will learn: 

• The anatomy of a sock
• Judy’s Magic Cast On
• How to turn a short row heel (Fish Lips Kiss Heel)
• Magic Loop (if you haven’t already learned it)
• Sewn bind off

Materials:

"Fish Lips Kiss Heel" pattern by Sox Therapist  (available on Ravelry or in-store)

• Needles appropriate for selected yarn
• Fingering weight yarn (400 yards)
• Knitting accessories - tapestry needle, scissors

Suggested Yarns: 

• Gedifra Lana Mia Uni
• Berroco Vintage Sock

For the best experience, we recommend that you use wool or a wool blend in a solid color.  As a reminder, yarn for classes must come from KGY. Visit our class policy page for more information.
